Your free 2021 guide on how to create your free website

This guide is a continuation of my initial post on How to create a website for free. A step-by-step guide in 2021. If you haven’t read that yet I suggest reading it first, so you have a basic understanding of what it’s all about before you follow the guide below.

With my easy to understand the step-by-step process to create your free website. You will be amazed at how fast this is set up for you with WordPress installed ready for you to start making your website a reality.

This is 100% free, so you won’t be asked to pay for anything when you follow this guide in order to get your website up and running.

This is not going to be a design guide, although I plan to create posts to help you along the way and to get you up and running even faster.

Quick Tip
I have created this ‘Step by Step Guide’ to make the process as simple as possible for you. But first, this may be obvious, but I suggest making sure you have another browser window open so you can easily follow along with this guide I created for you. Then if you get stuck, you are not having to navigate between pages in your browser window.

The link should open a new tab, but separating them into windows will be easier.

Let’s get started on creating your free website

STEP 1

Click the link below and this should open up a new page where you can select a name for your site.

>>>>>  Get Started Here  <<<<<

You should now be looking at this page. First, create a name for your site. If it’s available, you should see a green available button.

STEP 2

Click the link ‘Build My Free Website’

STEP 3

You should see this sign up form now to set up your account. Don’t worry, it’s totally free!  Yes, there are paid options that you can upgrade to, but you won’t be asked for any credit card details.

Setup your account and move on to the next step

Create free account

STEP 4

You should now see the dashboard of the whole WA platform. It may seem a little confusing, but don’t panic!

Welcome Page

The WA platform is a community-based system both free and paid that will help you to create a successful online business.
It is part of my number 1 way to get started on building a business online. You can read more here, but by creating this site you are already part of this ever-growing community

But, for this exercise I want you to focus on creating your free site.  Click the Websites tab on the top menu bar

Click website link

STEP 5

You should now see this screen, click on Build a Website

Website dashboard

STEP 6

Next, you should see this screen, ‘What kind of website do you want to build?’ You have a free account, so you should be only able to select FREE Domain, which you need to select.

Click Free Domain

STEP 7

Choose the domain that you originally checked was available right back at the beginning. It may even show the name you originally checked.

Also, enter a title for your website. This can be changed once the site is built, so don’t worry too much about this.

Choose a domain panel

STEP 8

Now you are ready to build your site. Because it’s a free site, you have only got one theme option, but GeneratePress is an excellent platform.
It’s been specifically selected because it’s a lightweight theme so it will help to keep your site running fast, which Google likes!

Click ‘Build my Website’

STEP 9

You should then see screens like the ones below while the system does its thing when it installs the site for you.

STEP 10

You should then see this screen saying Awesome! Your website is ready to go.

  1. Login Button for your actual ‘WordPress Website Dashboard’
  2. Domain Details you can make a note of
  3. Ensure these tabs are Green

The speed tab is only available for upgraded accounts

Make a note of your Admin details and Domain details. The SiteSSL and Site Protect ‘toggle buttons’ are should be switched on. SiteSSL meaning secure sockets layer is a protocol for web browsers and servers. It enables secure authentication and encryption of data sent over the internet. Plus, it adds trust to people visiting your website.

Some hosting providers charge extra for this service, but you are getting included even on your free site.

How easy was that!

But the main thing is this whole process has not cost you a penny.

Your free site is installed, so what to do next

Your site should now be installed, so the first thing you need to do is to click the Login Button where your admin details are (See Step 10). This will log you in to your WordPress dashboard. It should look like the picture below.

WordPress Dashboard

When you’ve logged in. Go to the top left corner where it says ‘Visit Site’ and click the link to see your live site.

Visit Site

It will probably look like the picture below. It doesn’t look like much at the minute but your site is now ready to have your stamp and content added to it.

From the dashboard, you can control everything that happens on your site.

This is one Giant Step Congratulations you have your first website.

Hello world

As I mentioned this is not a design tutorial. Your website sits on the WA Platform (Wealth Affiliates) which offers all sorts of tools and training, take some time to look around the platform and look at the initial free training to get you started and on your way. Plus, if you get really stuck, you can always reach out to me and I’ll be happy to give you some advice.

Your website is hosted on one of the most stable platforms around. If at some time you can upgrade I would suggest doing so. The training, tools and support are exceptional. The founders themselves even offer help and support within this fantastic community. But for the time being, it’s yours for free.
